Key West Hotel are known for Charming Architecture

Key West hotels and guest houses are known for excellent service and superb hospitality.  Your accommodations are an essential part of the Key West experience, as much as the sunset, water sports, and the Duval Crawl.  While the variety ranges from quaint, private conch homes converted into guest houses, to large chain resorts like The Westin or The Hyatt, the prices range from moderate to very pricey.  As far as prices of Key West hotels goes, the lower end of the scale just doesn’t exist.

For those on a budget, the Days Inn remains the best bargain.  With a large pool, plenty of parking, and cheap food nearby (i.e. The Waffle House), it’s the ol’ reliable for a no-fuss stay in Key West.  Compared to other Key West hotels, it’s budget-friendly at around $100 per night.

If you have a little more to spend, then your choices on the island are wide open.  The Waldorf Astoria has acquired Key West’s Casa Marina Resort, and starting at $249 per night, it’s still on the low side of Key West hotel room prices.  Of all the Key West hotels, Casa Marina probably offers the most historical charm, the most beautiful private beach, and great services and amenities.

For cheap Key West hotels, the first choice is the Key West Days Inn.  Per night, this large, clean and no-fuss hotel near the east end of the island has the lowest rates and the best deal for your money in town.  If budget is your main concern, and you’re staying less than one week, this is it.  At around $100 per night, you get a large pool, easy parking, trolley stop nearby, and 24 hour dining at the in-hotel Waffle House.

It’s easy to find- just as you enter the island of Key West, you’ll see it.  No need to drive your car into the congested areas of Old Town and pay for parking, either.  After driving the entire chain of the Florida Keys, you’re weary and chances are you don’t want to tackle the congested network of small lanes and narrow streets of Old Town.  It’s fortunate that one of the best cheap Key West hotels is right there waiting for you at the entrance to Key West.

Another option  is the Seashell Motel, which is associated with the local Key West Hostel.  Rates start at $75 a night, based on double occupancy.  Rates will go up in the peak winter season.

If you’re staying for a week, a very different alternative to cheap Key West hotels would be the weekly rate at the Heartbreak Hotel on Duval Street.  Compared to the Days Inn, however, there are several factors you may need to know before choosing this hotel.  Weekly rates are $600 in season and even less in the shoulder and off seasons.  Your room will be smaller and since it’s a private hotel, not held to standards you’ll find at the Days Inn.  Amenities are fewer and staff is a bit more let’s say, unpredictable.  And, it’s on Duval Street so while that’s convenient for participating in the Duval Crawl, it’s not the best choice for getting a good night’s sleep since the scene outside can be noisy.
